Tier 1 Exceptional Talent goes live

The Tier 1 (Exceptional talent) category of the UK’s points-based system is now open for applications.

This category is for people who are internationally recognised as world-leading or potential world-leading talent in the fields of science and the arts.

Initial applications under Tier 1 (Exceptional talent) must be made from abroad. Initially, applications that are successful will be granted for a period of 3 years and 4 months. Thereafter, when it comes to renewing, you will be granted additional stay for 2 years.

Applications are made to the UKBA (United Kingdom Border Agency) who then forward the applications on to one of four competent UK bodies (The Arts Council of England, British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering or Royal Society) who then assess you as to your talents and decide to endorse your application or not, then return it to the UKBA who make a decision on the applications.

UK Immigration visas in this category are limited as the comptent bodies have a limited number of endorsements they can make. There are a total of 1000 endorsements that can be issued from now until 5th April 2012 and only half are available until 30th November 2011 with the other half being released on 1st December 2011.
